Lesson #2: Cultivating Optimism

When you are stuck in the stress response, that is - the "fight or flight" response, you will tend to perceive everything in your life as a physical or psychological threat to your very survival. It is virtually impossible to be happy when everything around you becomes "the enemy." Additionally, when the fight or flight response is stuck in the "on" position, it puts your body in emergency survival mode and out of "rest, digest and repair" mode, making the long term maintenance of physical health almost impossible. You will eventually burn out if you don't learn how to turn off your fight or flight response.
